Our fleet has had an exciting refresh, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of four fantastic local businesses who came on board to help make our new sails a reality.
A huge thank you to Hilton Haulage, Mike Pero, NPD and Mitre 10 Mega Nelson for backing youth sailing in Nelson and Tasman.
These new sails will be out on the water week after week - training, racing and competing at regattas - helping the next generation of sailors build skills, confidence, friendships and a lifelong love of the sport.

Hilton Haulage
Hilton Haulage began in Timaru in the early 1970s, and has grown significantly, becoming a well-known South Island brand with services spanning general and bulk transport, dairy transport, crane operations, container transport, and managed warehousing. In 2016 Ngāi Tahu—Te Waipounamu’s largest iwi—acquired a 50% shareholding – a partnership that marked the beginning of Hilton Haulage Limited Partnership and reinforced the company’s commitment to being a locally owned business focused on long-term, intergenerational wellbeing. Importantly, a substantial portion of Hilton Haulage’s financial contribution supports Ngāi Tahu programmes in education, environmental regeneration, health, and housing.

NPD is a New Zealand family owned and operated wholesale distributor of fuel and Castrol lubricants, delivering the highest quality service. They have been in business for over 50 years and have strong roots in Nelson and throughout the North and South Island.
Mike Pero
Mike Pero Nelson are local mortgage and insurance experts, with a mission to make the process stress-free while ensuring the best possible outcome. Supporting the local community is at the heart of everything Mike Pero do. Over the years, they have proudly backed local sports development and have extended that commitment by sponsoring sailing and helping high school students discover new opportunities to grow and succeed - both on the water and in life. The team believe that buying a home is one of life’s biggest and most exciting decisions. It’s about creating a future, building security, and opening doors to new possibilities, much like the opportunities this sailing program provides for young people.
Mitre 10 Mega
Mitre 10 has been equipping, inspiring and supporting Kiwi DIYers and tradies since 1974 and are New Zealand’s largest home improvement and garden retailer and trade merchant. Giving back to the communities that supported them is part of their DNA, and each year they back hundreds of schools, charities, community groups and not-for-profits with practical, hands-on help.
